FAQs

These are some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) couples have posed over the years. I hope they answer any questions you have, but if there’s something else you want to ask please get in touch.

How far would you travel to photograph a wedding?

Although I’m based near Brighton in Sussex, I travel all over the UK and beyond to photograph weddings.

How would you describe your style of wedding photography?

I’m a documentary wedding photographer. Some people call it reportage or photojournalistic wedding photography. It just means that I look to capture the genuine emotion, humour and beauty of your day, and visually tell the story of how it unfolds, without asking you or your guests to pose or move here and there. In my view, this approach makes for the best and most memorable pictures.

Do you take posed or group shots?

Yes I do. Most couples want a few posed pictures of themselves, and some group shots with family and friends. But it’s totally up to you. If you do, I would suggest keeping the number of groups to a minimum so as not to disrupt the flow of the day or keep you from your guests for too long. We can discuss how best to do this at our pre-wedding meeting.

How can we book you?

It’s very easy. All you have to do is get in touch to check if I’m available. You might also want to have a chat over the phone/Skype to find out more first. If I am available and you’re happy to go ahead and book me, I will send you my standard wedding agreement to sign and send back to me (all professional wedding photographers require this). Once I have that, and a non-refundable deposit for £200, I will secure your date. The rest of the fee is due no more than 4 weeks before your wedding day. And that’s it! Simple really.

Can we meet you before the wedding?

Yes, of course. I nearly always try to arrange to meet my clients at the wedding venue a few weeks before the big day to say hello and to run through the final plans for your wedding – times, exact locations, etc. Or if that’s not convenient we can chat on the phone or Skype?

When do we receive the pictures?

All your high resolution images will be placed on a private gallery with password protection within 2-3 weeks of your wedding day. And I will post you a memory stick containing all your high and low res photos. I also send a handful of images (a ‘sneak peek’) within a few days. I find that couples really like this because it gives them a sense of what’s to come and so they can share them with friends and family so soon after the wedding.

Are we allowed to download and print the pictures ourselves?

Yes you are. You can buy beautiful high-quality prints and bespoke, framed pictures etc directly from your online gallery, or you can download the files and print them yourself. I’ll also send you a memory stick containing all your pictures and you have permission to use the images as you wish, as long as it’s not for commercial use.

Do you use professional equipment?

Yes I do. I use high-end Canon cameras and lenses.

Can you produce colour and black & white pictures?

Yes I can. All my pictures are individually edited and processed by me. Most couples are happy to leave it to me to decide when an image looks better in colour or black & white and therefore receive a mix of both. But it’s up to you. I’m also happy to produce a handful of the same pictures in both colour and black & white at no extra cost. And there’s even an option of receiving all images in both colour and black & white.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am fully insured. I have both professional indemnity and public liability insurance. You should always make sure any photographer (or any other supplier) is fully insured.
